The Effects Of Fasting On The Brain

What does fasting do to your brain?

In this post, I wanted to share my experience with the effects of fasting on brain health and how it has given me an immense increase cognitive function and life changing productivity.

Before you dive into the article, ask yourself:

Have you ever went through a period of time where you completely forgot about food for hours on end?

Maybe you went 2 or 3 hours, or even 6 to 10 hours. However long it was, you were simply focused. There were no distractions, no thinking about food, or feeling hungry. This one task consumed all of your attention.

I’m sure you have at one point. And now the question is; what if we could manufacture this state of mental alertness and high productivity each and every day?

We can.

And it’s done with Intermittent Fasting.

Effects of Fasting

The way we approach fasting with Kinobody is simple. There are no strict eating windows or only fasting a few times per week.

Every day, the goal is to push your first meal later into the day.

Some enjoy only going 3 to 4 hours. I personally enjoy fasting for 8 hours. And with the rest of folks, in between. Actually fasting that long makes, for example, following the Aggressive Fat Loss Diet effortless. You get the best of both worlds by getting a lot of work accomplished in the day while still hitting your calorie deficit enjoyably.

Once you adapt to fasting, your mind is clear and the effects of fasting become profound. You gain a great sense of alertness and even energy. The reason for this is because your body begins to release more norepinephrine, which triggers the body’s sympathetic nervous system. This is one of the many amazing effects of fasting on the body.

When you’re eating food, that takes energy from the body to digest. The body then switches over to the parasympathetic nervous system. Think of that as “rest and digest.” This is the reason that you just want to chill out after eating a big meal.

What’s more, this is the reason for those who eat breakfast and feel groggy or even crave more food shortly after.

Another one of the great effects of fasting is the increase of autophagy, a process in your body that recycles waste which in turn supports neuronal health (Study). Autophagy also plays a critical role in maintaining muscle mass and fighting the degenerative aspects of aging.

My Morning Routine

Effects of Fasting on the Body

I’m the kind of person where I really need to watch my calorie intake to stay lean. Eating breakfast just made this more difficult for me.

The best thing of all is that you don’t have to worry about cooking, cleaning, or preparing your breakfast, giving you so much more time to be productive in the mornings.

And there’s no decision that has to be made about what you’re going to eat, draining your will power…

You’re simply fasting and can roll right into your day.

What gets me charged up and focused each morning is just that. Fasting has been shown to increase BDNF (brain derived neurotrophic factor), which directly relates to learning and memory (Study). It’s really how Kinobody began to take off as well. Each morning I was so excited to get to work!

Things really get into high gear when I start to have my black, Fasting Fuel coffee and sparkling water. Which also makes fasting that much more effortless to stick too.

And to support the concepts we’ve been talking about, intermittent fasting has been shown to increase overall brain health and increase disease resistance (Study).
