Rusty Moore on Training Frequency

In today’s episode we sit down with Rusty Moore, the grandfather of training for the “lean Hollywood look”.

We take an in-depth look at a new training protocol he has been using with great success: a high-volume frequency training program designed to blast strength gains and increase muscle tone.

Quick warning: this flies directly in the face of my “lower volume” approach. That said, it’s only meant to be followed for a couple months before going back to your normal routine.

Even if you don’t want to train 5-6 days per week, there are definitely some amazing takeaways from this call.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How to strength train 5-6 days per week without burnout
  • The difference between tension lifting and explosive lifting
  • How to rapidly gain strength through building a more efficient nervous system
  • Why full body style workout routines are really effective
  • Can you actually increase muscle tone without dropping body fat

    Hey Greg,

I train two days a week in the gym and once a week at home ( a have two 20kg dumbells and push up bars)

    Ma workout:
    tu: chest, shoulders, tric

    thu: legs, back + bic

    5-6 excersises per workout

+ sunday – workut at home:

push ups ( max reps), pull ups, dumbel rows, lateral rises, dumbell curls,

Is workout haevy 2 days a week + 1 home workout ( mosty calistenik, worlout with my one body) good?

Whats Your opinion about push ups, pull ups without adding weight? Is doing 30-40 push ups once a week and havy bench press in other day also once a week good for me?

Can we mix haevy lifting with calistenik to promote pure strangh and also endurance, mobility?

Looks good to me but bodyweight push ups are way too easy. Do assisted one arm push ups or something more challenging. If you can do more than 12 reps of something you need to make it more difficult.
